ABOUT

Robert Gear was born in Nelson, New Zealand on the 9th of April 1957. His family moved to Perth Western Australia in 1961. Robert was educated at Scotch College and Guildford Grammar School between 1962 and 1974. He completed a teaching Diploma majoring in Art at Nedlands Secondary Teachers College in 1977.

In 1980 he completed his degree in Fine Art at Curtin University. In 1983 Robert accepted a teaching position with the Education Department and has been working in a full and part time capacity with the Department since then.

Robert has continued to paint throughout his teaching career. He has held three solo exhibitions and has participated in many art competitions and group shows during that time.
